We are pleased to announce that Mirova Foundation will support WWF France for 3 years on the theme of water.
Protecting ecosystems and taking action to ensure that water resources are used properly is critical right now to ensure an adequate supply for the economy, people and Nature going Foundation. This has been driven home recently as we’ve seen just how crucial water is for our societies.
Rather than spur divisive debates, we want to encourage the emergence of solutions that will reduce the water footprint of agriculture, in particular by working together with the various stakeholders.
On the strength of this conviction, Mirova Foundation and WWF France have come together over two projects, one dedicated to the conservation of new freshwater ecosystems in mountain areas, the other in support of agricultural water sobriety and resilience.
- Support for a pilot project in South-East and South-West France focused on better management of water resources in farming practices. The aim of this project is to set up a regional approach favouring sustainable, water-efficient agriculture, and to propose compromise solutions to relieve pressure on water resources in a region affected by both increasing drought and agricultural industrialisation.
- Support for the Ice & Life project alongside the Asters association (Conservatoire des espaces naturels de Haute-Savoie) spearheaded by Jean-Baptiste Bosson and focused on the impact of melting glaciers in the Alps. This research programme will develop scientific knowledge to protect the new freshwater ecosystems formed by glacial retreat.
