Mirova Foundation Joins the Racines Initiative

Thinking about philanthropy systemically and acting with long-term impact: this is the ambition behind Racines, a collective initiative launched in 2021 that brings together foundations, nonprofits, and academic actors around a shared goal, transforming philanthropic practices through a more systemic approach.

We are pleased to announce that, in 2026, Mirova Foundation is joining the circle of organizations committed to this collective dynamic.

An initiative aligned with our mission

In a context of profound social, economic, and environmental transformations, it is becoming increasingly essential to move beyond one-off approaches and contribute to sustainable, long-term change.

Through its actions, Mirova Foundation works to enable everyone to build the conditions for their own future through three key drivers of empowerment:

  • education
  • employment
  • access to essential resources

Joining Racines naturally aligns with this vision: contributing, alongside other committed actors, to the evolution of philanthropic practices in order to address systemic challenges more effectively.

Building on the Systemic Philanthropy Program

This membership extends an initial collaboration launched in 2024–2025, when Mirova Foundation participated in the first edition of the Systemic Philanthropy Program.

The program created a genuine space for trust, learning, and peer exchange. It enriched our reflections while also fostering meaningful connections within the philanthropic ecosystem.

These exchanges have already led to concrete outcomes: Mirova Foundation has partnered with Fondation de France and Fondation Entreprendre in a co-funding program aimed at supporting entrepreneurship in rural areas, illustrating the importance of cooperation among philanthropic actors.

Learning, cooperating, and acting collectively

By joining the circle of Friends of Racines, Mirova Foundation aims to continue strengthening this collective momentum by:

  • sharing practices and feedback among peers
  • stepping back through moments of inspiration and dialogue
  • identifying opportunities to pool resources
  • reinforcing the impact of initiatives in connection with the needs of the nonprofit sector

Convinced that philanthropy grounded in trust and cooperation is essential, we continue to develop an engaged approach through venture philanthropy: multi-year structural support, flexible funding, and non-financial support for nonprofit organizations.

Joining Racines therefore means contributing to a collective movement seeking to deeply transform the way philanthropy supports social and environmental transitions.
